-Increased vaginal infections
-Increased urinary tract infections
-Urgency, urge incontinence
-Mild stress incontinence
-Vulvar dermatitis: lichen planus and sclerosis
-Waking up from sleep to urinate
These are all symptoms that develope in women due to declining estrogen levels. When estrogen declines, 15% of perimenopausal women and over 50% of postmenopausal women experience one or more of these symptoms. They can experience them even is they are taking systemic hormones or using vaginal estrogen. This is possible because physicians don't suppliment women with high doses-but instead attempt to give the lowest dose possible to achieve resolution of hot flashes and night sweats, not resolution of GSM symptoms.
Many women come to me stating that theu never had theses symptoms before menopause. So how do we fix it? Some women wil respond with systemic and local estrogen, or just estrogen, but others will not. Thus, we now have a novel device called the MonaLisa Touch that will improve and rejuvenate vaginal and bladder tissue.
